Travis Klosterboer, BASF Professional Turf & Ornamentals Senior Sales Specialist – Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma Territory

Time with BASF:  Three years

Approach with customers:  “It’s my job to educate users on the technical features and benefits of our products, and, most importantly, how our products can solve issues that they face on golf courses, in nurseries or through their lawn care businesses,” said Klosterboer. “I don’t believe in short-term selling – I want the best long-term solutions for my customers.”

First Job:  “When I was 15 years old, I worked as a cashier at Tinsley’s, which is a fried chicken fast food joint, and my boss taught me to work as a member of a team,” said Klosterboer. 

Favorite part of working at BASF:  “I really enjoy the BASF culture,” said Klosterboer. “I love the focus on active ingredients and bringing them to market. Very few companies do research and development or marketing to the extent of BASF. It’s exciting to watch BASF provide customers with the best products to solve the issues they face.”

When he’s not working you can find Travis:  Passing time with his daughter and two sons, especially in the outdoors. His eight-year-old daughter has even shown interest in fishing and dove hunting – which puts a big smile on dad’s face but makes mom “want to pull her hair out.” Travis treasures sharing the outdoor living experience with his children and teaching them what to look for when outdoors, such as fishing hot spots, water color changes, and hunting techniques.

One weekend a year, Travis and his family take a ski trip. Spending time with family outdoors is the real fun, because as Travis puts it, “I don’t ski. I fall. I’ve mastered the falling.”
